The Washington Post is reporting that a woman is dead after she was shot in the head with a paintballgun while playing paintball at home.
The incident happened at a home in the New York City borough of Staten Island on Sunday.
The Washington Post reported that the woman, identified as 52-year-old Yolanda Perez, died after being shot in her head at around 3:30 a.m. in a residential neighborhood.
“This is a tragedy, but we will not be silent,” her brother, Victor Perez, said.
“This has been the hardest day of my life.”
A neighbor told the newspaper that the incident took place after Perez was playing paintballs at a friend’s home and that Perez had stopped to help a man who was shot.
Perez was shot once in the back and was taken to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, the paper reported.
The woman’s name was not immediately released.
The NYPD was not able to confirm the report and is still investigating.
