Written by Brian Ewing, CNN contributor (Photo: Brian Ewings)The National Paintball Association announced Tuesday that paintball will be a part of the 2018 National Paintballs Championship presented by Target, which will be held in the San Antonio Convention Center.
The event will be the first-ever National Paint-ball Championship.
The league has expanded the competition to include a $100,000 grand prize and an additional $5,000 in scholarships.
The NPA said that the league will include two teams, one featuring four players and one featuring three.
Teams will be divided into two divisions: the Pro Division, which includes teams from the South and West, and the Advanced Division, featuring teams from more than 40 states and territories.
In addition to the two divisions, the NPA will hold three other championships.
The National Championship will take place from Sept. 1-4 at the San Diego Convention Center, according to the NAPA.
The NPA has not yet announced a schedule for the championships.
